I now have 3 sets of 1000+ thread count sheets and this set, even after only 3 washes, is my favorite. Most of the high TC sheets tend to be sateen in my experience, and while it feels soft and great, they don't breath at all. This set doesn't have the sateen finish, so it's not quite as soft initially as my others have been, but it breaths and they are still reasonably soft. After another 20 or so washes, I'm sure they will be just perfect. Didn't know what microfiber sheets were like and was hoping they would be as soft as my microfiber couch... upon opening the package, they felt rough and thin and they were also very orangy, so I decided to wash them first. The sheets did soften up after washing in cold, but nowhere near as soft as the couch. Also most of the orange color went away but there are still a few spots. (hopefully one more wash will eliminate all of the orange). I was concerned that they might be too warm but they tend to take on the temperature of the room. They were warmer at night but cooler in the morning. First thing--don't go by the color on amazon. Granted, all computers are not set the same, but on mine, the color shown is a light, light sagey color. What I got is a mid-to-dark sage. I tend to prefer light sheets, so that was a bit disappointing.

Think a deeper, muted, sage-green and you'll not be surprised. Don't go by the image above.

Now, to the sheet--very substantial feeling. Thick and nice feeling, but I expected softer. I assume repeated washings will take care of that. Not to say it's not soft, mind you, just for this thread count and original price, I did expect dream-soft. The material has a subdued gloss that's quite pretty.

I like the sheets, though they are not supersoft out of the bag or after first wash before using. The color is elegant and dark (yes, I prefer lighter tones, but this is a nice neutral color that can take on a variety of comforters and accent pillows) and looks great with dark wood bedroom furniture like ours.

No drying instructions. Not many of us hand washing sheets today and I prefer to wash my sheets in hot water. I washed my set in cold water and a medium setting dryer and agree with the other review that the sheets are a tight fit. It was a struggle to get them on my queen mattress (no pillow top). These sheets are a great quality, the cotton is very soft and it has the heavy feel of a high quality product. They are soo much more comfortable and really make my bed the haven I need. I am loving them.

There are only two things that customers purchasing the gold solid should be aware of. The first is that it's more goldenrod than the picture implies, though that's common with things shown online. The other may be me not understanding the how sheets are supposed to fit...however my mattress is eight inches deep with a six inch feather bed on and the sheets are a really tight fit.
