Yes, they are stiff when first unwrapped; wash them before putting them to use, and you will find they are exceptionally warm and soft. They are of a terrific weight...not too heavy as to make you feel smothered, but not so light that you have to pile the blankets on top to stay warm. I have one other set of flannel sheets bought at Target, and they do not compare in quality: not as heavyweight, and they pilled as soon as i washed them. These are woderful! This winter we saw exceptionally cold weather and I did not have o turn on my heater at night with these on my bed.
